Leicester Discus

Leicester Discus is owned by John Dempsie and is located close to the M1, Junc 21. John started keeping mostly wild discus in 1978. In 1999 he visited many of the leading fish farms in Singapore and Hong Kong.

John’s fish house is home to some very fine discus fish, and the premises are fully licensed and vet inspected. The most popular fish are John’s Leopard Snakeskin varieties, Blue Diamonds Hi Body Blues and Super Red Melon. All of these are imported from competition winning stock from Singapore and Hong Kong and are quarantined for a minimum of 6 weeks.

John uses water that is a balance of RO and CBR and water changes are 50% water on young discus and 25% on adults - everyday.

Prices start from £10 for a 2" Blue Diamond and rise up to between 75-£300 for some of the star adults.

In addition to the discus, John also stocks a wide range of Huey Hung medication and sponges, API Water conditioners, and spawning cones.

John takes great pride in his fish – this is reflected by the fact that he imports the best quality discus, by visiting respected breeders and personally selecting them.
